If you are interested in applying for the apprenticeship program, you must bring a copy of the following:
ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE IN HAND TO APPLY
- You must be at least 18 years of age
- A copy of your High School Diploma or GED
- An "Official" unopened transcript showing you have successfully completed one full credit of Algebra I
- A copy of your driver's License or State ID
- A copy of your Social Security Card
- A copy of your Birth Certificate
- You must be physically & mentally able to safely perform the functions of on the job taining
- Have cognizance of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation requirement concerning Apprentice Electricians

Work while you learn
The Galveston JATC accepts applications year round for individuals seeking to start a career in the electrical industry. Apprentices accepted into the program are placed with an electrical contractor for full employment and attend school two nights a week during the fall and spring semesters. An apprentice is required to work 8,000 hours of on the job training and 900 hours of classroom instruction in order to graduate the program and receive certification as a journeyman wireman with the U.S. Department of Labor.

Classes are available on an as needed basis to meet the demands of the ever changing industry. Classes range from continuing education classes for state issued license, to motor controls, instrumentation and other specialty skills required by our contractors and customers.
